The limits, deliberately

What the MCP cannot do

Handing an assistant access to accounts that are not yours deserves a shorter leash, not a longer one.

It cannot skip approvals

If an account requires sign-off, the assistant can put a post into review and no further. There is no tool call that publishes past a pending approval, by design.

It cannot connect or comment

No connection requests, no comments, no DMs. The same line we draw in the product, drawn again here, because an assistant acting unsupervised is exactly where that would go wrong.

It cannot exceed your own access

The MCP inherits your permissions exactly. If you cannot see an account in the app, neither can your assistant, and revoking your access revokes its access in the same moment.

A word on prompt injection, since this is the honest risk with any MCP: an assistant that reads post content is reading text written by other people. Treat anything it summarises from the feed as data rather than instruction, and keep the approval step on for client accounts. We constrain the tools deliberately so that the worst case is a bad draft sitting in review, not a bad post on someone’s profile.

About the MCP

What is MCP?+

The Model Context Protocol, an open standard for letting an AI assistant call external tools. In practice it means Claude or ChatGPT can use Hypelio directly instead of you copying text between a chat window and an app.

Do I need to run anything locally?+

No. The server is hosted, so you add the URL once and it stays current. There is nothing to install and nothing to update when we ship changes.

Which assistants work?+

Anything that speaks MCP. Claude and ChatGPT are the two most people use; the protocol is open, so others work without us doing anything specific for them.

Is it safe to give an assistant access to client accounts?+

With approvals on, the assistant can prepare work but not publish it, which is the arrangement we would recommend for anything with someone else’s name on it. Without approvals it can publish, so turn them on for client accounts and keep them on.

Which plan includes it?+

All of them, including Solo. It is a different way into the same product rather than a tier feature, and charging extra for the protocol would be an odd thing to do.
