LinkedIn text formatter

LinkedIn gives you no bold button. Write your post here, style the words that carry the point, and copy it back. It all happens inside this browser tab — nothing you type is sent anywhere, and there is no account to make.

How it works

Four steps, about thirty seconds

01

Write or paste

Drop your draft into the box. It stays in this tab.

02

Select the words

Highlight a phrase, then pick a style. With nothing selected, the style applies to the whole post.

03

Check the fold

The preview greys out everything LinkedIn hides behind “see more”. Move your best line above it.

04

Copy and post

Paste straight into LinkedIn. The styling survives, because it is the characters themselves.

Worth knowing

What this actually does to your text

No formatter can add real bold to LinkedIn. Every one of them, including this one, swaps your letters for lookalike Unicode characters. That has three consequences most tools do not mention.

Screen readers struggle

A screen reader reads styled characters one by one, or skips them. A whole post in bold is close to unreadable for someone using one. Style a few words, never a paragraph.

Search does not match it

Styled words are different characters, so LinkedIn search and hashtags will not match them. Keep your keywords and any hashtag in plain text.

It pastes anywhere

Because the styling is the characters, it survives copy and paste into LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp or a document. Nothing to install, nothing to break.

Our own rule when we write for clients: one styled phrase per post, in the first two lines, and never the call to action. It draws the eye once. Used on every line it stops working and starts costing you readers.

Questions

About formatting LinkedIn posts

Will LinkedIn penalise a formatted post?+
There is no evidence of a ranking penalty for styled characters, and LinkedIn has never said there is one. The real cost is human: a post that is entirely bold reads as shouting, and it is genuinely hard for anyone using a screen reader. Use it sparingly and it is fine.
Does this work on the LinkedIn mobile app?+
Yes. The styling is carried by the characters themselves, so it renders the same in the mobile app, the desktop site and in notification emails. This page also works on a phone, so you can format and paste without switching devices.
Where does “see more” actually cut my post?+
Around 210 characters on desktop, and roughly three lines on mobile, which varies with screen width and where your line breaks fall. The preview here marks the 210-character point, so treat it as a close guide rather than a guarantee. The practical rule is that your hook has to land in the first two lines.
Is anything I type saved or sent to you?+
No. The formatter is a small script running in your browser. Your text is never sent to a server, never stored, and disappears when you close the tab. There is nothing to log in to and no email box on this page.
How do I remove the formatting again?+
Select the styled text and press Clear. That converts the lookalike characters back to ordinary letters, which is also the fastest way to fix a post you formatted somewhere else and now cannot edit cleanly.

Writing for more than one person?

Formatting is the easy part. Keeping ten people’s voices, drafts and approvals apart is the hard part. That is what Hypelio does.
