Downloading is a technical question. Using what you downloaded is a legal one, and they have different answers.
You posted it, you own it, and getting the file back after you lost the original is a perfectly ordinary thing to want. Same for a client’s post you manage on their behalf with their say-so.
The file is public, so it downloads. That does not make it yours. Reposting it as your own is straightforwardly a copyright problem, and on LinkedIn it is also the fastest way to be publicly corrected in your own comments.
Private posts, members-only groups, and anything you can only see because you are signed in. A tool that offers these is either asking for your session cookie or is quietly failing and blaming your link. Both are worth walking away from.
Being blunt about the trade: this reads the public page the same way a browser in a private window would. If a post is not visible signed-out, it is not visible to this, and no amount of retrying changes that.
On the post, click the three dots and choose “Copy link to post”. That gives you a URL containing /posts/ or /feed/update/, which is the shape this needs.
The link is checked before anything else happens, so you find out immediately if you copied a profile URL or a search result rather than a post.
